Drone flight over the west branch of the Chicago River, flying across the Chicago River lock and dam system before heading back toward downtown Chicago.

The flight was filmed the day after St. Patrick’s Day, when the river is still green but the crowds have mostly cleared out, making it a quieter and safer time to capture aerial views of the river and downtown.

From the air you can see the Chicago River engineering system, including the lock gates and dam that regulate water flow between the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. The route continues back toward downtown with views of the Chicago Riverwalk, the green river, and a quick peek at the iconic Apple Michigan Avenue store along the river.

A peaceful aerial look at Chicago right after one of its biggest celebrations.
